OpenCourseWare is an initiative of one of the world’s top universities, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) that puts all of the educational materials from its undergraduate and graduate level courses online, free and openly available to anyone, anywhere. The MIT OCW can be considered as a large-scale, web-based publication of over 1,900 MIT course materials.
Under the Memorandum of Cooperation signed between Ayb Educational Foundation and MIT OpenCourseWare, Ayb has been entrusted to host and maintain an OCW mirror site in Armenia.
Ayb has already connected the OCW mirror site server to:
• The local network of Yerevan State University;
• The ARENA network, embracing 32 universities and institutes in Armenia.
Thus, students and faculties of almost all Armenian universities, higher educational institutions, and secondary schools connected to the server, have access to the OCW resources and MIT learning materials, including video and audio lectures and presentations, publications, articles, papers, etc., while not actually being online.
Since the quality, cost and coverage of Internet connection in Armenia are far from being satisfactory, installation of an OCW mirror site server and its connection to the local networks is crucial to boost education in the country.
MIT OpenCourseWare mirror site in Armenia is available at
